The Rogue lockup, jaguar and allThe challenge
Rogue turns a plain-language prompt into production software. The product argument is unusually simple and unusually hard to show: nothing visible happens between typing a sentence and owning a working codebase. Poi Studio led the brand and the design; we came in to help steer where the creative and art direction landed, and to build the thing.
The solution
The direction we pushed for in those sessions was to keep the animal literal and the interface plain. A jaguar — fast, Brazilian, unbothered — carries all the energy, rendered as a dense acid-green dither so it reads as something computed rather than photographed. Everything around it stays quiet: white ground, mono body copy, and colour kept on a short leash — acid green carrying the interface, coral held back for the explanatory sections. Then we built it, so the restraint survived the handoff from artboard to browser.
How it works, in three moves
The prompt is the interface
Four tiers, one plain-language promise
Rio, dithered
Three audiences, one accordion
An integration shelf that reads as a catalogue
The studio, shot straight
Clients above, landmark below
The closing call, and the ghost lockupProject Information
Rogue is an AI product that writes and ships real software from a single plain-language prompt. Its positioning problem is that the interesting part is invisible — a text field goes in, a working repository comes out, and the middle is a black box.
Poi Studio led the brand identity and the interface design. Our involvement was narrower and specific: we joined a run of working sessions to help steer the creative and art direction, and then we built the production front end.
The direction we argued for was to let one image do the work. The jaguar is fast, Brazilian and completely uninterested in permission, and dithering it into a coarse acid-green mosaic makes it read as computed rather than photographed — the product’s whole thesis in a single picture. The same treatment carries through the imagery: Rio’s landmark, a tropical hillside, a resting big cat, all pushed through the same dither so the world looks reconstructed from data.
Against that, the interface stays deliberately plain. White ground, black type, a mono face for body copy, and an acid green that appears as scattered pixel squares and one highlighted row — with coral reserved for the sections that explain the product, and a leopard-print field kept for the brand moments alone. The prompt field is the largest interactive element on the page and nothing competes with it.
We then wrote the front end, which is where a design either survives or quietly degrades. Type scale, the pixel-square motif, the dither fidelity and the exact green all had to hold at real breakpoints rather than at artboard width.
